Meet the Directors

Robert W. Gregory is Managing Director of the Institute and Associate Professor of Business Technology at the University of Miami Business School. He was appointed Managing Director effective August 1, 2026.

His research examines how organizations transform with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and data network effects, algorithmic management, digital platforms, and the governance of intelligent systems. His work has appeared in the Academy of Management Review, MIS Quarterly,  Information Systems Research, the Journal of Management Information Systems, MIT Sloan Management Review, and the Journal of the Association for Information Systems. He serves on the editorial review board of the Academy of Management Review and reviews for Organization Science, MIS Quarterly, and Information Systems Research.

He teaches digital transformation in the MBA and Online MBA programs, teaches qualitative research methods in the Executive DBA program, and designs and delivers executive education programs for corporate and government clients. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from Goethe University Frankfurt. 

Nina (Ni) Huang is Administrative Director of the Institute, Chair of the Department of Business Technology, Professor of Business Technology, and the Dennis and Smith Family Endowed Chair at the University of Miami Business School. She is a Senior Editor at Production and Operations Management and an Associate Editor at Information Systems Research. 

Previous Leadership

The Institute was founded in 1986 by David Bendel Hertz. Dr. Robert Plant led it until 2026. The Institute's full history is on the History page.
